Structural steel erection continued at the east and west sides of the Ballroom, and the first of 30 main trusses was hung earlier this week. Each main truss measures 120 feet in length, spanning east to west across steel columns and will form the roof of the future Ballroom.

Construction Update - 09/21/11
Steel erection continues north and south of Lakeside Avenue. Crews continue erecting steel and ballroom trusses in the future ballroom and meeting room areas north of Lakeside Avenue while on the future Convention Center site, structural steel erection in the East Concourse area started right on schedule on Tuesday, September 20.

Construction Update - 09/16/11
Structural steel arrived on the Cleveland Medical Mart & Convention Center work site this week and the first erection of steel beams is underway north of Lakeside Avenue. The steel contractor has begun setting steel, including columns and trusses, in the new ballroom area. The trusses are 115 feet long and weigh as much as 70,000 lbs. There are 96 segments in all that comprise the 32 trusses (that is, each truss is made up of three segments).

Moment of silence at Medical Mart site: Workers pause to remember victims of 9/11
FROM WTAM-AM 1100: Work on the Medical Mart came to a halt Friday morning. At 8:45 a.m., Turner Construction halted all operations on the Cleveland Medical Mart & Convention Center job site to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Cleveland MMCC workers commemorate 9/11 anniversary with Moment of Silence
On Friday, September 9 at 8:47 a.m. ET, Turner Construction temporarily halted all operations on the Cleveland Medical Mart & Convention Center (Cleveland MMCC) job site to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and to pause and remember those who gave their lives on that day and those who continue to sacrifice for our freedom. The 9/11 Moment of Silence was called by three horn blasts from Carlos Figueroa, Jr., Turner site safety manager, suspending all work on the job with approximately 200 onsite workers shutting down equipment and suspending all operations for two minutes. Work resumed with the sounding of three additional horn blasts two minutes later.

Construction Update - 09/02/11
The Cleveland Medical Mart & Convention Center Webcam has been reinstalled on the Standard Building at the corner of St. Clair and Ontario Streets. The Webcam provides an excellent overall view of the entire project and automatically provides hourly updates. The webcam is available to the general public on the Cleveland MMCC website at www.clevelandmedicalmart.com.
