Iron & Steel Technlogy Conference to return to Cleveland in 2015
Steel really is making a comeback — especially to downtown Cleveland. No, ArcelorMittal is not planning a new mill at its complex in the Flats. But in the spring of 2015, some 8,000 steel industry participants are expected to attend the Iron & Steel Technology Conference at the Cleveland Convention Center, which is scheduled for completion this summer. Held by the Association for Iron and Steel Technology, (AIST), the event is returning to Cleveland after what will have been a nine-year hiatus following the event's last appearance here in 2006.

HIMSS Innovation Center slated for October opening in Cleveland
Chalk one up for interoperability – hands-on interoperability. It is one of many gains HIMSS President and CEO H. Stephen Lieber envisions with the opening of the HIMSS Innovation Center in Cleveland, slated for October.
Between the innovation center itself and its accompanying exhibition floor, the complex will occupy a total of 25,000 square feet on the fourth level – the entire top floor – of the Global Center for Health Innovation, which will house other big-name healthcare leaders and charter tenants, among them Cleveland Clinic, GE Healthcare, Johnson Controls, University Hospitals and Philips Healthcare. HIMSS has plans to double the size of the exhibition space by 2016.

With much fanfare, Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald today announced that the Cleveland Clinic and GE Healthcare will be participating as tenants in the under-construction medical mart in downtown Cleveland. The announcement was made during the last day of the Cleveland Clinic Innovation Summit at the Hotel InterContinental on the Cleveland Clinic main campus. The summit brought more than 1,000 physicians, medical company executives and entrepreneurs from across the country to Cleveland.

GE Healthcare Systems today became the first major health care company to publicly commit to Cuyahoga County's medical mart. The company announced it will showcase products related to breast cancer, Alzheimer's disease and heart disease in an interactive display. The Cleveland Clinic today also announced it has signed on to the $465 million, taxpayer-financed project, which includes a convention center beneath the downtown mall.

Cleveland Medical Mart & Convention Center released a four-minute promotional video earlier today, including an extensive virtual tour of the themed spaces within the Medical Mart floors. Ohio Optometric Association to move conference to Cleveland's new convention center
The Ohio Optometric Association's annual EastWest Eye Conference will move to the under-construction Cleveland Convention Center in 2013, 2014 and 2015. The optometrists' meeting will attract 1,500 attendees and 100 exhibitors, who are expected to book 1,125 room nights in downtown hotels, according to MMPI Inc., the developer and manager of the new trade show complex. The conference dates are Oct. 3-5, 2013; Oct. 9-11, 2014; and Oct. 1-4, 2015.
